Objects entirely absent in the optical

  • trkendall by trkendall

Hi I used to be a professional astronomer and I've seen lots of images like these. I'm confused about a couple cases I've seen where there is nothing at all within the circle in the optical.
They weren't in SIMBAD which means nothing but they had blue SEDs. What should I do about these? I need to know before I can proceed with confidence! Thanks timk

Hi trkendall, welcome to Disk Detective! Are you referring to no DSS2 images, if yes, take a look at this : http://talk.diskdetective.org/#/boards/BWI0000002/discussions/DWI0000wj1
You still can determine whether a target object is a good candidate by looking at other wavelengths.
