What the type of variable star is V* V1028 Cas

  • Haian by Haian

We know that there are a wide range of variable stars so my question is: What is the possible type of this star. Hear we know that the Spectral type is M6.5 D. And from the SED we can estimate the temperature by using Wien's displacement law, hear the black body has a maximum at 1.66 microns, so the temperature is about 1745 K (It's cool star). The mag are 17.8 and 14.3 for blue and red, but we don't know the absolute mag to be able to identify the type of the variable star.

This is listed in VizieR in the AAVSO International Variable Star Index VSX (Watson+, 2006-2014) as an LB variable. These are
Slow irregular variables of late spectral types (K, M, C, S); as a rule, they are giants. This type is also ascribed, in the GCVS, to slow red irregular variables in the case of unknown spectral types and luminosities. Example: CO Cyg. A good introduction to variable types is found at http://www.aavso.org/vsx/help/VariableStarTypeDesignationsInVSX.pdf
