P_OLD in BANYAN

  • mariomar by mariomar translator

Inserted the name of this YSO (2MASS J19002906-3656036) in BANYAN I.
    Result for membership is P_OLD = 99,87.
    What does this membership mean?

In BANYAN II the result is P_YFLD = 87.37.
Is correct to suppose that is not associated with any group or cluster?

P.S. I marked it as a good candidate

Indeed, use BANYAN II because it's the more updated, P_YFLD means "Young Field Star" so you are correct, it's not associated with any group or cluster, and in this case is young.

In the case of P_OLD or P_OFLD in BANYA II, that goes for "Old Field Star", an older star but also without any link with a group or cluster.

    Thanks Shigeru.
Is it yet a good candidate even if it does not belong to any group?

Any uncontaminated YSO or star is a good candidate. This YSO is a good candidate, although it has already been highly studied. If you click on More Info on SIMBAD, then scroll down to "References" and click on display, you will find a large number of references with information on this object. It has been observed by the Spitzer telescope and identified as a YSO with disk, and is located in the Corona Australis star-forming region.
