So I take it this is circular enough in DSS2 Blue?

  (...given that it's been tagged #star by a moderator) I'm trying to get a better idea of how "picky" we're supposed to be—how much variation from the ideal we're supposed to tolerate.

  original DDS2 blue image is very pixelated. so i would say there is only one star at the center.

  • one faint star at 6-7 on the red circle.

  basic rule is to look for an additional object in two images, here, the central source is round in DSS2 red.
