first time I have had a return of data in NED , and not sure if what I did was/is correct . From a SIMBAD result for AWI0005bew I put the Gal co-ordinates 014.4835 +19.6301 into NED and got 2MASX J06575007+1937367 as a result . Firstly did I do a no no . Secondly I am not sure what I am Doing/Did . Thirdly assuming what I did was correct , what has MASX J 06575007+1937367 got to do with AWI0005bew . I hope that is all understandable . Just trying to work out how NED works

Are you using NED from Aladin? It's the case, you can see how close to the object that 2MASX id is, for example.

I'm not sure how you found 2MASX J06575007+1937367 for AWI0005bew. If you look at the WISE ID for AWI0005bew (just below the image, you can see that it is J170737.21-062607.2. This actually gives you the equatorial coordinates for this object in the form RA= 17:07: 37.21 DE = -06:26: 07.2 or RA= 17 hours 07 min 37.21 sec, DE = -06 degrees, 26 min 07.2 sec. SIMBAD gives you these same equatorial coordinates in decimal form (256.9050555, -6.4353551). The name 2MASX J06575007+1937367 also gives the equatorial coordinates for this object - RA= 06:57:50.07, DE = 19:37:36.7; you can see they are completely different, so these two objects are in very different locations. When I search NED using the AWI0005bew coordinates, I just find a GALEXASC ultraviolet source (UvS). Joe
