Good candidate for follow-up?

  • biggsjrex by biggsjrex moderator

TYC 4024-1836-1 -- Be Star. Spectal type shown in SIMBAD is B1IV-V:ep, but another (most?) recent spectral type listed in VizieR is wG8III. Any interest in follow-up?

Most catalogues indicate it's a Be star

If it's a Be, is not good. The G8III spectral is from Tycho2, maybe a yellow supergiant after leaving the main sequence, see this: Supergiant stars often swing between O or B (blue) and K or M (red). While they do this, they do not stay for long in the yellow supergiant G classification as this is an extremely unstable place for a supergiant to be.
